NotebookLM Hub

Privacy Policy

Effective: April 4, 2026 · Last updated: April 4, 2026

1. Introduction

NotebookLM Hub (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Chrome browser extension that helps users manage sources in Google NotebookLM. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our extension and visit our website.

2. Data We Collect

We are committed to minimal data collection. Here is what our extension accesses:

  • Active tab URL and title— Only when you explicitly click “Add Link” to import a source into NotebookLM.
  • Local storage data— Your settings, preferences, and cached notebook data are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API.
  • NotebookLM session data — To interact with NotebookLM on your behalf, we access your active NotebookLM session. We do not store your Google credentials.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect browsing history.
  • We do not track your activity across websites.
  • We do not collect personal information such as name, email, or address.
  • We do not use analytics, cookies, or third-party tracking on the extension.
  • We do not sell or share any data with third parties.

4. Data Storage

All user data is stored locally on your device using the Chrome extension storage API (chrome.storage.local). No data is transmitted to our servers. If you use the optional sync features (Obsidian or Notion integration), data is sent directly between your browser and those platforms — we do not act as an intermediary.

5. Permissions

Our extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • activeTab — To read the URL and title of the current tab when you import a source.
  • storage — To save your settings and cached data locally.
  • sidePanel — To display the source management sidebar.
  • Host permission (notebooklm.google.com) — To interact with the NotebookLM interface.

6. Third-Party Services

If you enable optional integrations (Obsidian, Notion), your data is shared directly with those services under their respective privacy policies. We recommend reviewing their policies before enabling these features.

7. Children's Privacy

Our extension is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
